Velma Elizabeth Johnson Obituary Velma Johnson passed away September 17, 2014. She was born September 30, 1925 in Colville, WA to Alvena and Harold Conner. She graduated from Colville high school and married Hubert (Pete) Johnson in 1947. In 1951 they moved to Spokane to open their first drug store at the bottom of the Sunset Hill. They sold that store and opened Pete's Ash & Rowan Drug in 1956. Velma loved sewing and crafts and sewed for many people over the years. She loved to cook and bake so there were always cookies for anyone stopping by. Candy making was a specialty of hers. Pete proceeded her in death in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Sandi McKee (Ken), and son, Mark Johnson (Sue), her grandchildren, Jerry and Steve McKee, and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, on Monday, September 22 at 11:00. Donations may be made in her memory to Spokane Parks Foundation, Make a Splash in a Kid?s Life Program, 222 W Mission Ave, Suite 10, Spokane, WA, 99201.
