Victor Gerald Pedey

Victor Gerald Pedey Obituary (Age 92) Victor was born March 11, 1926 in Orkney, Saskatchewan, Canada to Leo and Hazel Pedey, the second of eight children. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Taylor. The family emigrated to Bonners Ferry, ID where he attended school through high school and helped work the family farm. At 18, he entered the US Army and served a term as a paratrooper in the Philippines and then in Japan as part of Occupation Forces in WWII. He was discharged in 1946. He was called back to duty for a second term in 1950 during the Korean Conflict and served in the Field Artillery. In 1947, he married Jewel McBeth (who preceded him in death in 2004). They had three children, Adrian Pedey (who preceded him in death in 2014), Dana Pedey and Vicky Whitney. He married Dona Van Gelder in 2005 who had three children, Don Van Gelder (who preceded him in death), Rick Van Gelder and Denise Loehlein. The combined marriage resulted in 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He worked as a superintendent in construction and was a Lifetime Member of the Carpenters Local 59 and the VFW. He served as a Boy Scout Leader, was a Volunteer Fireman, and also volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. He was much loved and is very much missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 11am at Heritage Funeral Home.
