Vila V. Burt Obituary
Vila Victoria Christina (Peterson) Burt was born on November 5, 1912 in Quincy, Washington to John and Hilma Peterson, Vila was their fifth child and only girl. Vila's middle names were given her to honor both of her grandmothers. The Peterson Family moved to Valleyford, Washington in 1919, where they cleared the land for farming and build their home. Vila married Arthur Burt in 1930; they had three children and 62 plus years together before Dad passed away in 1992. Mom was only thirteen when she lost her mother and her one wish was to see all of her children raised, not only was this granted, she lived to see the start of the fifth generation of her family. Mom was a wonderful wife and mother, a great cook, kept a beautiful home, worked outside weeding or milking the cows or what ever was needed to be done. Mom and Dad enjoyed playing cards and spent many happy evenings doing so with family and friends. Mom enjoyed building, she and Dad did much of their own remodeling and Mom and our Granddad Burt built the garage on our small farm in Valleyford. They lived there forty years before moving to Kennewick, where Mom spent her last twenty-five years. Her parents, her four brothers Melvin, Arvid, Ed and Frank Peterson and her husband, Art, preceded mom in death. Surviving her are her three children and their spouses; Len and Jackie Burt, Darrell and Joyce Burt, Dolores and Bob McClary, eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Services will be held September 9th 2010 at 1:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224. Interment will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
