Violet Amelia Hagen Obituary She was born to Finnish immigrants Amalia and Matt Nopanen on October 01, 1931, at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, WA. Vi (as she liked to be called), grew up in Peaceful Valley, she attended Washington Grade School and Lewis and Clark High School. She attended Kelsey Baird Secretarial School before she began working for an insurance company. Later, she worked for Secus for 13 ? years before retiring. Vi was married on May 10, 1953 to Emil Raymond Hagen, the Love of her life. Together, they raised three daughters, Linda, Lisa, and Karen. She loved nature, traveling, gardening, and drawing. She spent many wonderful years at the family lake property on Pend Oreille Lake in Idaho. Sewing and crocheting were also hobbies she enjoyed. She created Barbie, and Troll doll clothes, without any patterns. Her talents also extended to her cooking, making family meals both wholesome, and tasty. She was an active member of The Spokane Finlandia Chapter and All Saints Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, husband, and many friends, she joyously rejoined her loved ones in the afterlife on February 10, 2012, and prepares the way for those she leaves behind. She is survived by her brother Lauri Nopanen, daughters Linda Jenkins (husband Bill), Lisa Potts (husband Jeff), and Karen White (husband Ryan), five grandchildren; Jerome Hagen, Toni Hagen (wife Becki), Jasmine Rowe, Karleen Smith (husband Justin), and Nadine Brock, five great grandchildren; Eric, Ayla, Kyra, Kenna, and Amiia. Nephew Ken Scotten (wife Linda) Nieces Barbara Peters, Debra McNulty, Kathryn Withycomb and other family members. Vi's kindness and loving spirit touched family, friends and new acquaintances that she came in contact with. She'll be missed dearly, but will be remembered with fondness and love for all eternity. As a mother she taught her daughters how to love and be loved unconditionally. In lieu of flowers, it was Vi's wish to donate to Hospice House of Spokane, and All Saints Lutheran Church. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 15 from 10 am to 5 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 314 South Spruce St, Spokane, WA on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11 am.
