Virginia Alice Peters Obituary (Age 97) Virginia was born May 7, 1920, and passed away August 19, 2017 at Hospice House South of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Roxie (McCarty) Rawson, husband, Ralph Peters, and son, Tom Peters (Kathy). She is survived by son, Chris Peters (Ellen); grand-children Todd Peters (Margo), Joey Hendrix (Tom), Roxie Peters, James Peters, Nick Peters, and Kaylee Peters; as well as great-grandchildren Lola and Reis Peters, Hattie and Freddie Hendrix, Dominick Courtney, and Dakota Kennedy. Virginia was raised in Spokane and attended Lewis and Clark High School. She then served as a WAC in the army and was stationed in Texas during World War II. After the war, she married Ralph, a former POW and B-17 pilot. They were members of "The Greatest Generation. She worked for several banks over her lifetime, finishing at the Teamsters before retiring. For many years, she was an active member of the V.F.W. Post 51 in Spokane. She enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as her many friends and fellow vets at both the V.F. W. and in their backyards for summer barbeques. Her own yard was a sight to behold and a testament to her love of gardening. Virginia always had a sharp wit, even joking with hospital staff during her last week of life. Her girlish laugh and sense of humor made her the life of every party. She was well-loved and will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the V.F.W. Post, 300 W. Mission Ave. Please join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
