Virginia J. "Ginny" Scarpelli Obituary
Virginia J. (Ginny) Scarpelli entered into rest on December 20, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ginny was born in Spokane, WA on July 12, 1948 to Nick and Mary Scarpelli and was a lifelong resident of Spokane. She was one of six children, raised in a loving Catholic home with many celebrated Italian traditions and extended family members. She graduated from Holy Names Academy High School in 1966 and went on to Seattle University and Eastern Washington University, where she earned both an Undergraduate and a Master?s Degree in Special Education. She taught Special Education in District 81 middle school for several years. Ginny is survived by her son, Jamison Scarpelli, Seattle, WA, whom she adored and was incredibly proud of; her parents Nick and Mary Scarpelli of Spokane; her siblings and their spouses Rose Mary Diedrick, Nick Scarpelli Jr. and Kathleen Scarpelli all of Seattle; Mike and Mima Scarpelli, Spokane, WA; and Julie Scarpelli & David Levin, Oakland, CA. Ginny also had 11 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by them all. A celebration of Ginny?s life will be held at Gonzaga Preparatory High School?s Chapel on Monday December 27th at 10am, followed by a reception at the home of Mike and Mima Scarpelli. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Northwest Renal Services, DSI North Spokane Renal Center, Cancer Care Northwest and Hospice of Spokane for the loving care she received from them. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or Gonzaga Prep-Nick and Mary Scarpelli Scholarship Fund.
