Virginia (Rehm) Ruben Obituary
(Age 87)
Born September 26, 1924 at Newport, Washington and passed away on October 1, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Virginia graduated from Spokane's John Rogers High School. Virginia met Philip Ruben at the old Natatorium Park in Spokane during World War II. They were married at Walla Walla in 1944 and settled in Spokane after the war. Together they raised two sons Mark and Michael. In 1970 they renewed their marriage vows at the Temple Beth Shalom with family and friends in attendance.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Philip in 1981 and her son, Mark in 2010. She is survived by her son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Diane, her three grandchildren, David Ruben, Leigh Ann Beckley, and Andrea Hormel, and her four great-grandchildren, Colin, Lucy, Kelsey, and Grace.
Virginia was an accomplished artist and was involved in the local Spokane painting community for many years, learning, teaching, and making friends. She was a kind and warm person and made many strong friendships during her life. Her family was very important to her, and she was happiest when she got everyone together for special meals at her home. She was much loved and will be dearly missed. Graveside services will be at Mount Nebo Cemetery on Friday, October 7 at 10:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Shalom.
