Wallace "Wally" Victor Christensen Obituary
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Monday morning October 19, 2009, three days before his 91st birthday. The father of 10 children, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Myrtle Lucille (Schmidt) Christensen, his brother Leroy of Helena, MT, nine children (David, Jim, Judy, John, Mary, Ann, Paul, Daniel, Andrew), 45 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. He has now joined his daughter, Lois, who went to be with the Lord in 2002. Wally was born Oct. 22, 1918 in Hinsdale, MT and grew up in Saco, MT. Following graduation from the University of Idaho where he studied journalism and business, he attended Harvard's business school where he obtained an MBA. After his marriage to Myrtle in 1943 he attended OCS and served in the army for four years in Hawaii. He and Myrtle then settled in Spokane where Wally worked for the Spokesman Review and was active in Fourth Memorial Church, serving as an elder for many years. Wally's passion in life was to serve His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to see others come to know Him, starting with his own ten children. He was also very involved with church visitation programs, Christian Business Men's breakfasts, and various mission work. His life was a testimony to all of us of God's goodness and faithfulness. He was loving, funny, generous and wise, and extended love and acceptance to all. It is our prayer that God would use the spiritual legacy that Wally left to bring glory to Himself for generations to come. A family graveside service will be held at Moran Prairie Cemetery at 1:30 pm Sunday Oct. 25, 2009 followed by a memorial service at Fourth Memorial Church, 2000 N. Standard St., at 3:30 pm. All are invited to join us at 3:00 pm to hear prelude music by various family members. Memorial donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission in Spokane and India National Inland Mission (INIM); PO Box 2603, Forest VA 24551-6603.
