Wanda Rae Smith Obituary (Age 83) Passed away on July 19, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA. She was born on September 30, 1929 in Vacaville, CA to Hugo and Elfleda Schmidthans. She married Robert E. Smith on August 5, 1953 and spent the next 25 years traveling the world as the wife of an Air Force officer, where she frequently volunteered as an x-ray technician and later, at Holy Family Hospital. Together they had two sons. Wanda and her mother Mae were long-time members of St Luke?s Lutheran Church in Spokane where they were avid volunteers. She was passionate about gardening and the outdoors, an expert seamstress and gave generously, both her time and money, to a wide variety of causes. She leaves behind a brother, David Schmidthans of Oregon; sons and daughter-in-laws, Craig and Linda Smith of Vancouver, WA and Ben and Lisa Smith of Spokane, WA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, on what would have been her 60th wedding anniversary, Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 am. Daughter, wife, mother, grandmother ? the best.
