Wanitta Loretta Spann Obituary
Left this world on September 13, 2014 in the arms of her much loved granddaughter, Christine, in their Spokane Valley home. Wanitta was born in Spokane on November 12, 1920 to Elsie and Arthur Caufield. She attended Spokane schools and graduated from Rogers High School. She married Walter Bujer and they had a son and 2 daughters. Her son died at 3 years old and she was widowed a year later. She remarried in 1947 to Edward Spann and together they had 3 more daughters. She joined the workforce as a cook and worked her way to chef and eventually to restaurant management. She retired in 1982. She devoted the remainder of her life traveling, gardening, sewing and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. They were her greatest treasures. Wanitta cherished her family. She will be sorely missed by all. She was a wonderful lady that never hesitated to speak her mind or voice her opinion. She presided over all Holiday and Sunday family dinners until she could no longer accommodate. Wanitta was preceded in death by both her husbands and her only son, Billy. She leaves behind her children; Katherine (Robert) Gary and their children Chris, Lisa, Melissa and Grayson of Spokane Valley; Wanitta (Robert) Racicot and their children Robert, William and Brett of Spokane; Cynda (Mark) Smith and their daughter Stephanie of Spokane and Las Vegas; Ginny (Jerry) Rush and their daughter Michelle, Everett, WA; Laurie (Ted) Yucho and their son Christopher of Portland, OR, as well as 18 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
