Wayne E. Sherfey

Wayne E. Sherfey Obituary (Age 90) Passed away June 28, 2012 at his home of 62 years. He was born September 12, 1921 in Garfield, WA to Frank C. and Florence A. Sherfey. He graduated from Tekoa High School in 1941 and he served in the US Army during WWII 1943-45. After his return to Spokane he worked at the Chrysler-Plymouth dealership until his retirement in 1986. He met Florence C. Hamernik at a dance club and they married July 23, 1949 in Fort Ripley, MN. Wayne liked to garden and watch birds. His deep appreciation for nature was enhanced by camping, boating and fishing at Lake Roosevelt. He and Florence ballroom danced well into their 80s, keeping them "Young at Heart". He is survived by his wife of 63 years Florence; daughter Carol Brown (Devin); grandchildren Brandon Brown (Angie), Erin Brown (Matt Rowton); great-grandchildren Flora and Ella Brown, Madison and Parker Rowton; and sister Mary Ellen Tee. Memorial Service 1:00PM Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Heritage Chapel. The family extends sincere thanks to friend and neighbor Dr. Ron Krueger (Ret.) for his generosity, caring and compassion.
