Wayne Louis Rentel Obituary (Age 86) Wayne was born October 12, 1924 in St. Maries, ID to Walter and Ada Rentel. He passed away in Spokane on October 24, 2010. Wayne graduated from St. Maries High School where he was an All State basketball and football player. In 1942 he joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1944. From 1942 to 1944 he was a member of the ?All Army? basketball team. In 1946, Wayne married Bette Bowler in Spokane where he has primarily resided since 1949. He was employed by the Milwaukee Road for 23 years, was a State of Washington auditor and manager for the State Employment Agency, and was also the owner of Wright Advertising in Spokane for many years. Wayne was an avid golfer and in 2004 he was nominated for the Inland Empire Sports Hall of Fame. He is a former member of Fowler Methodist Church. Wayne is survived by his sister Hazel Cason of Staunton, VA, son Gary Rentel, Portland, OR and granddaughter Kiffen Rentel of Tacoma, WA. He is preceded in death by his wife Bette, Spokane, brothers Beryl and Hank, Spokane and sister Muriel, Spokane.
