William B. Sadler

December 24, 1926 - June 22, 2013

William B. Sadler Obituary (Age 86) William Bruce Sadler was born on Christmas Eve, 1926, to George and Estelle Sadler in a small railroad town in Northern California which is now under about 400 ft of water behind Shasta Dam. At 17 years of age, (1944) he volunteered for the Navy. He was assigned to the V12 program for Officer and Pilot training and was stationed at College of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. When the war was over he was discharged but continued his education. While in college he met and later married Mary Pederson in 1949. Bill began his career with Swift & Co. as a salesman out of Chico, CA. It was there his three daughters were born. Soon he was offered a promotion to assistant sales manager at the South San Francisco Swift plant. From there he was promoted to manager for other Swift plants up and down the West Coast. He was transferred to Spokane, WA, in 1967 where the family lived for almost 10 years. However when the company wanted him to move to the Mid West, he left Swift & Co. and went to work in Beaverton, OR, for Ray Schumacher, a former Swift employee. He retired in 1993. He and his wife, Mary, moved back to Spokane to be near their girls and families. Bill passed away June 22, 2013 at home with his loving wife of 64 years and two of his daughters by his side. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sadler, and his three daughters, Jane Michelsen (Claude) and Gail Haxton (Jim) both of Mead, WA and Cynthia Grieb (Scott) of Crystal Lake, IL. Bill is also survived by eight grand children and 14 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his father, George Luxford Sadler, his mother, Estelle May Sadler, and his only sister, Lois Jones. A memorial servic
