William "Bill" Caldwell Penick Obituary
Bill joined the love of his life, his wife Audra Dell Smith, in heaven on March 6, 2016. He had a long a wonderful life and died just two weeks short of his 96th birthday. He lived in his home for 40 years at Liberty Lake. Audra died in 2011 after 63 years of marriage and Betsy, his daughter, lived with him for the past seven years. He laughed at and enjoyed their dog, Bernie.
As an avid golfer until the age of 89, he and his wife played golf throughout the Northwest. He enjoyed going for drives, sitting in the porch in the sun and eating ice cream.
Bill was an Air Force Veteran from WWII and after being at Fairchild Air Force Base; he decided to make his home in Spokane in 1946. He grew up in Elkton, Kentucky where he was born in 1920 to Bernis and Mary Penick. After spending 29 years at Garceau Steel Structures, in 1980 Bill went into real estate.
He experienced great joy and companionship from his children, Sally Stratton and Betsy Adkins, grandchildren, David M. Silver and Amy Joy Kells and great-grandchildren, Zak, Cailen, Mikala, Aiden, Emelia and Liam. Several nieces and nephews and their families also survive him. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to the Union Gospel Mission. A private graveside service will be held for family and extended family only.
