William C. "Bill" Batt Obituary
After a long battle with ALS, and surround by those who loved him, Bill went to his heavenly home on October 15, 2012 at the age of 68. Born in Logan, Utah on April 25, 1944, Bill moved to Spokane with his parents in 1950 and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1962. He owned and operated an excavation company in Spokane and worked on the Alaska pipeline and the Silverwood Theme Park. In 1993, following a back injury, Bill became motivational speaker for Xooma Worldwide, where he received numerous awards and certificates including the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Whether he was tying a fly on your line, building an ice rink in the backyard, or telling a tall tale, Bill brought fun to the lives of those he loved. He was a self taught musician, who loved skiing, fishing, scuba diving, snowmobiling and big hugs. Even during his last years with ALS, Bill continued to inspire others.
Bill is survived by his wife and best friend; Marina L. Batt; son, William M. Batt; daughters, Heidi Batt and Holly Batt; step-daughter, Tracy Teigen Schumacher and step-son, Jeffrey Teigen; grandchildren; Colby and Isaac Batt; Josh and Maeve Churchill; and Margaret and Hammet Lear. Surviving siblings are Rod Batt, Bradley Batt, Leslie Krogh, and Deborah Meyers. He is preceded in death by his parents William L. Batt and Martha Jean Batt.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 17th at noon at Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive, Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the local ALS Service Organization at www.alsso.org
