William "Don" Donald Mast Obituary (Age 84) Passed away at home on November 12, 2009. The son of William and Emma Mae Mast, Don was born on January 18, 1925 in Marshfield, Oregon. Following graduation from high school in Klamath Falls, Oregon, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served as a decorated destroyer radioman in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a graduate of Oregon State College, where he was a record-setting quarterback and captain on the football team from 1947-50. Don spent his working career as a lumber salesman in Spokane. After his retirement in 1984, he and his wife, Marge, shared time at their homes in Deep Lake, WA and Apache Junction, AZ, where they enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling and cards. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Spokane and the Masonic Lodge in Klamath Falls. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, his mother and step-father and his brother, Charles. He is survived by five children, Val (Bill) Turnquist of Spokane, WA, Vince (Shelly) Mast of Portland, OR, Vici (Wade) Walter of Odessa, WA, Willard (Dee Dee) Taft of Colville, WA, and Gordon Taft of Seattle, WA; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 am 2 pm on Monday, November 16th at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, followed by a private family service and interment. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
