Wilma Ruth (McDowell) Schneider Obituary Billie passed away at home surrounded by her family on October 18, 2016 in Spokane, WA. Born to Katie Krels-McDowell and John Wesley McDowell and raised in Spokane, Billie was the fifth of seven children. She graduated from Rogers High School in January of 1951. After marrying James Schneider in 1951, Billie attended St. Lukes School of Nursing and was a proud graduate of the class of 1953. She relocated to Santa Monica General Hospital and returned to Spokane to work at St. Lukes, where she eventually fulfilled the role of Associate Director of Nursing. She retired from her nursing career at the VA Hospital of Spokane in 1997. Billie was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parents, and her siblings Gladys Roberts, Pearl Gianini, and John Robert McDowell. She is survived by her children Andy (Kim) Schneider of Snoqualmie, WA and Kathy Williams of Stafford, VA; siblings Dorothy Walker, Sophia Lukaszeski, and Jackie (Bob) Pattie; grandchildren Josh, Cassie, Jason, and Talia, and great-grandchildren Grace, Eleanor, Jameer, Jason, Jaxon, and Carlo. Billie enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, and spending time with family. She also attended as many reunions with her nursing school classmates as she could. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home followed by a Graveside Service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
