Winifred Blanche Farmer Obituary
Born September 22, 1922, in Greeley Colorado, passed from this life into the loving arms of her Savior on July 17, 2009. "Winnie" came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 11 and the rest of her life expressed her dedication to serve Him. Following WW II, Winnie found herself in Japan for 10 years, sharing the love of Jesus with children. She met her husband to be, Kenneth Farmer while there, and in 1959 went to Johannesburg, South Africa by ship to marry him and become a mother to his three children. After returning to the U.S. in 1960, she became mother to three children of her own. Winnie faithfully lived her life to lead not only her own children but other people in service to Christ. Before retiring to Newport, WA in 2001, Ken and Winnie were involved in a jail/prison ministry leading needy men and women to a personal faith in Christ. She was awarded The Order of the Silver Star by the Salvation Army, U.S.A. Southern Territory upon her son, Major Derek M. Farmer and his wife now fully commissioned as Officers in the Army serving overseas in South Africa. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Esther Croyle; her husband of 45 years, Kenneth Farmer; and two brothers: Lawrence and Donald Croyle. She is survived by two brothers and one sister: Leonard Croyle, Homer Croyle and Josephine Wickwire. She is also survived by six children: Derek Farmer, Andrew Farmer, Helen Thew, Esther Longly, Tim Farmer, and Yvonne Horner; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be on July 25, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home, 11 a.m. Visitation available Thursday and Friday, July 23rd from 12 to 5 p.m. and 24th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
